What’s the deal with fiber?
Foods high in fiber include fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and beans. There are two types of fiber, soluble and insoluble fiber. Insoluble fiber help push food through our digestive system keeping our digestive system healthy and helping to prevent constipation. It is also thought to help prevent diverticular disease. Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids. Fiber without fluids will keep you constipated! Soluble fiber has been shown to help lower you cholesterol. Fiber can help with weight management since it is low in calories and fills you up. It has also been shown to have a positive effect on blood sugar control (1).
